A healthy heart means a healthy body, and running is a good way for optimum cardiac health. You do not need to be a marathon runner to avail the gains of running. Instead, moderate running is enough to enjoy those benefits.
I ran for my regiment when I was serving in the army and regularly took part in cross country races the length and breadth of the UK although I probably started running more seriously in the early noughties.
