Join the conversation and get reliable information and support from one of the largest health websites in the UK talkhealth is one of the leading online patient health communities in the UK, providing information & support around self-management for physical and mental well-being and for those with chronic health conditions. The services, programmes and solutions provided are completely free of charge. There are a number of patient forums where people can share stories and experiences and learn from others, regular expert online clinics where you can talk to a panel of medical experts on a range of topics, and lots of evidence based articles as well as a large bloggers platform. talkhealth also runs product trials and curates product reviews on behalf of healthcare companies who are interested to know what people think of their brands, and there is always a large number of free health giveaways on offer. The community is key to the services that talkhealth delivers. Members are regularly surveyed to ensure the information, support, programmes and solutions are not only what people need but also what they want. In late 2017/early 2018 talkhealth surveyed over 5,500 of its membership, 76 healthcare professionals and looked at the gaps in NHS service delivery to fully understand what additional resources could be provided to help people with self-management of a range of health conditions. As a result, a suite of support programmes has been developed including mywellbeing, myeczemachild, mypsoriasis, mywound, myhairloss, mywellbeing, mydryskin and myibs. Currently in development, mysleep launches in October and mymenopause later this year. Each programme lasts for between 12 and 20 weeks. Once people join, they receive a weekly email with a topic-based PDF to download containing practical information and guidance and links to additional resources and videos. As knowledge of a specific condition builds, people grow in confidence and the evidence shows people on the programmes are gaining more control over their health. • 93% will now recommend a programme to someone else • 83% feel more confident in self-managing their own health or condition • 87% said the support programme provided them with information they would otherwise have had to seek from a GP • 1 in 3 said they now visit their GP less • 64% saw an improvement in their health/condition after taking guidance from the programme Take a look at talkhealth and join for FREE today. Once you’ve become a member you can also sign up for on or more of the support programmes. Visit: www.talkhealthpartnership.com
